This vibrant yet dry wine demonstrates complexity, structure and depth with refreshing berry and citrus fruit flavors culminating in a long and robust finish. Exquisite aromas of strawberry and raspberry summer fruits with a hint of vanilla. 40% Grenache and 60% Syrah.
Wine Enthusiast 84/100 (November 2007): "This Provencal-style blend of Syrah and Grenache is clean and brisk in acidity, but a little on the sugary side, which gives the cherry and raspberry flavors a candied finish".
Connoisseur’s Guide to Californian Wine 86/100
“Good value for money!”
Syrah and Grenache. Orange-copper color. Ripe peach and berry notes in the aromas are accompanied by lighter hints of candied fruit, and the off-dry flavors similarly deliver a good measure of likeable fruitiness. The wine is not quite as zesty or bright as the best examples, but it works nonetheless.

| Vineyard Notes: | Location: The Jeriko Estate Vineyard is located in the Sanel Valley of the upper canyon of the Russian River basin in lower Mendocino County. The Syrah and Grenache are grown in a flat central section of the vineyard near the Russian River.
Soils: The block has deep, alluvial soils of gravelly-loam soil, with the emphasis on gravel as the section is closer to the River, which results in good drainage.
Water: The land is 486 feet above sea level. The vineyard typically receives 30 inches of rain annually, experiencing no rainfall between May and October and necessitating the use of a drip irrigation system for approximately 8 hours per week during the summer months. Overhead sprinklers are used for heat control once the temperatures rise above 90 degrees. During the summer the fruit is cooled and air is moved air through the vineyard by typical afternoon breezes.
Canopy Management: Jeriko uses 6x6 high density spacing, 1210 plants per acre. The narrow trellises provide shade for the rows of vines behind, providing a natural filter of sunlight to minimize loss of fruit flavors because of intense heat, and to reduce sunburn of the grapes. A combination of high trellis system and hand pruning encourages movement of air to inhibit the growth of moulds and mildews.
Cover Crops: Once the fruit is harvested and the vines go dormant for the winter, cover crops consisting of an organic mix of legumes, bell beans, peas, wild oats and vetch are applied very second year.
Organic Certification: This vineyard is farmed organically and is certified 100% organically grown by CCOF, IFOAM and USDA. |
| Vintage Notes: | Higher than average rainfall of 40 inches. Severe flooding in January 2006 that broke the banks of the Russian River - fortunately Jeriko did not lose any vines or suffer any damage. Average budbreak, ripening and harvesting times. Average yields. |

After harvest the grapes were destemmed before being gently pressed in the Bucher press (30lb) to minimize solids in the wine.
The Syrah juice was collected immediately and separated from the skins and stems. The Grenache was left in contact with the skins overnight to give the wine its bright and vibrant cerise/tangerine color.
The juice from each variety was then put into a tank, racked, chilled, then racked again into another tank innoculated with GMO-free yeast for a long cool fermentation in stainless steel. Prior to bottling, both varieties were then blended together before spending a short maturation period in stainless steel.
